Our Heritage Preserved was founded in this tiny county in eastern North Carolina. In fact, the inspiration for the company came from a desire to preserve the wood from structures around the area that were being destroyed. We call our most rustic floor The Greene to honor the rural nature of the county. To create this look we employ a "hand distressed" milling technique that does not remove any of the wood's natural surface texture - leaving exposed the natural saw marks of the timeworn wood.
The wood varieties of the Legacy Collection retain the original circular saw marks on the product to create a rustic look and a textured feel. Essentially, these grades are customizable. Based on client preference, our technicians can design the product to be darker with more texture or lighter with less texture. Our customer's preferred uses are in hunting cabins, mountain homes, and ski lodges
